Scarf Project

In October we challenged our crafty customers to knit or crochet scarves for our Make a Difference Day project. We set a goal of 200 scarves to be delivered to our store by November 15. We received over 400 scarves which were distributed in December. Scarves were donated not only to battered women, but to their children in six YWCA shelters and three transitional living centers in five local counties.  In addition, “graduates” of the YWCA transitional living programs who still use the YWCA women’s programs, will receive scarves.  Since this was such a success, we have decided to collect scarves all year to be donated in 2011. Goal for next year is 500! Make them throughout the year and we will store them.
